"Homeowner Bill of Rights" Hearing

(St.Paul, MN)  --  Backers of a "Homeowners Bill of Rights" are at the State Capitol lobbying lawmakers before tonight's (7pm) committee hearing.  The bill would ban so-called "double-tracking" and require banks say either "yes" or "no" to a homeowner's loan-modification request before proceeding with foreclosure.  The bill also requires banks assign a single point-of-contact for homeowners facing foreclosure.  Tess Rice with the Minnesota Bankers Association responds that requirement plus a prohibition against "dual-tracking" are already included in new federal rules.
